Cubed

​This piece was created after receiving two 12 foot rods of steel, the goal of this project was to make a piece with horizontal and vertical lines as well as the in-between. I was instantly interested in the geometric shapes I would be able to create, I settled on working around a cube. I did not want to just create a simple cube so I added pieces running thru the center to add a negative effect. I also added what looks to be another cube on the end but it is uncomplete which gives the piece prongs to be propped on. Creating this piece was a quite simple but the challenge arose when it came time to fuse the pieces together. I had a difficult time welding the metals, it was my first time using machinery like it and with time and practice I believe that I could recreate this piece and make it look cleaner and more secure.
